Ben's career in the water treatment industry started in 2006. His first job as a graduate was with Downer, a large projects, operations & maintenance contractor, providing water and wastewater treatment operations for his local council. He helped the operations team run the district’s municipal treatment plants as well as assisting on other contracts around the country. Ben also worked as quality manager in the companies IANZ accredited water testing laboratory.
During the amalgamation of councils to form the Auckland Super City, Ben joined Watercare Services as a process engineer, delving deeper into the technical challenges faced in operating water treatment plants. The role progressed into managing projects as operations engineer for the northern region including managing a significant upgrade of one of the countries largest drinking water treatment plants.
After completing his National Diploma in Drinking Water Treatment and 10 years working on municipal water treatment plants, he was keen to explore the private sector and the different water treatment challenges faced across a range of industries. Specialising in drinking water supplies, he has enjoyed expanding his skill-set across a range of solutions, from high volume treatment of healthy stock water to ultra pure water in the medical and pharmaceutical industries.
Ben grew up on a farm north of Auckland in a great community. After living in the UK and studying in the Waikato he returned to the area, enjoying the country lifestyle offered, with his wife Kate and son Max. Ben is a keen sportsman, retired now from rugby he enjoys playing squash, golf and touch rugby as well as fishing and the outdoors.
